    Remarks:

    f Has a ::f1d0:<zone>:<net>:<node> style host address.
    Example: ::f1d0:2:280:5555 (for node 2:280/5555)
    IO Incoming only (Node can not make outgoing IPv6 calls)
    OO Outgoing only (Node can not accept incoming IPv6 calls).
    INO4 No IPv4 (Node can not accept incoming IPv4 calls).
    PO4 Prefers Out on 4 (Node can make outgoing IPv6 calls,
    but is configured to try IPv4 first)
    6DWN The IPv6 connectivity of this node is temporarely down.
    NO6 The node no longer presents an IPv6 address in the nodelist
    and will soon be removed from this list.
    HOLD The node is temporarely off-line. Mail may be routed.
    DOWN This node is Down for both IPv4 and IPv6 and will be
    removed from this list if the condition pertains.
    PM Prospective Member. The node has demonstrated IPv6
    capability but is not listed or does not advertise an
    IPv6 address in the Fidonet nodelist yet.

    Notes:

    To make an IPv6 connection to a node connected via 6to4 tunneling
    one may have to force the mailer into IPv6 (-6 option in binkd's
    node config for binkd up to 1.1a-96, -64 option for binkd 1.1a-97
    and up when compiled with AF_FORCE=1). If the destination address
    is a 6to4 tunnel address (2002::/16) many OSs default to IPv4 if
    an IPv4 address is present.

    You may not have the answer, but I used to have this set up some time ago, but I cannot remember nor figure out how I did it. How does one set up in Linux (Debian variant) the f1d0 address?

    f Has a ::f1d0:<zone>:<net>:<node> style host address.
    Example: ::f1d0:2:280:5555 (for node 2:280/5555)

    In my case ::f1d0:1:214:22.

    Thanks.

    You'll generally need a domain name for your BBS or some way to refer
    to your BBS by a domain name and then configure DNS with an AAAA record.

    ipv6 IN AAAA 2604:880:52:866:f1d0:1:124:5016 endofthelinebbs.com. IN AAAA 2604:880:52:866:f1d0:1:124:5016 bbs IN AAAA 2604:880:52:866:f1d0:1:124:5016

    I have several ipv6 hostnames setup.

    You'll also need your provider to allow you to setup a f1d0:: address,
    usually through a control panel, many will give you a /48 or /64 which
    can both be used.

    You may not have the answer, but I used to have this set up some time
    ago, but I cannot remember nor figure out how I did it. How does one set up in Linux (Debian variant) the f1d0 address?

    f Has a ::f1d0:<zone>:<net>:<node> style host address.
    Example: ::f1d0:2:280:5555 (for node 2:280/5555)

    In my case ::f1d0:1:214:22.

    How about something like:

    /bin/ip token set ::f1d0:1:214:22/64 dev ens35

    That is a response to the question on how to set it up in DNS. But as I read it that is not what Ray asked. He wanted to know how to set up such an address in Linux.

    Sorry, I haven't got the answer to that. I know how to set it up in Windows, but not Linux. However there are plenty of sysops that have set it up in Linux, and some should be around here, so I will let them answer...

    Cheers, Michiel

    huh, yeah. I guess I misread it.

    Personally I just use netplan rather than dicking with /etc/network stuff

    Remarks:

    f Has a ::f1d0:<zone>:<net>:<node> style host address.
    Example: ::f1d0:2:280:5555 (for node 2:280/5555)

    It is a classic example of the US exceptionalism that especially the MAGA morons demonstrate over and over again.

    It is also an example of how detached from reality they become when they are deprived of a proper education.

    This person doesn't even realise how ironic it is to post the above claim in an echo specifically dedicated to people who actually care about IPv6.

    Donald, is it you?

    Nah, the Stable Genius doesn't even know how to write; he uses a Speech-to-Text generator to produce his infamous tweets with which he communicates with his faithful fanatics.

    All that we know now is that /you/ are not interested. The weekly posting of this list was in request of some of the participants.

    This area is specifically created for those interested in IPv6. If you are not interested there is a simple solution. Delink from the area or make it pass-through.

    Cheers, Michiel
