Brig. Gen. Lewis Armistead was mortally wounded during Pickett˙s Charge at the Battle
of Gettysburg in the US Civil War. He is believed to haunt the Fort Riley cemetery,
weeping over the grave of his dead wife.
Tillie Pierce Alleman, who at 14 years of age was an eyewitness to and dedicated nurse
at the Battle of Gettysburg. The Tillie Pierce House, located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,
is renowned for its haunted reputation as she walks the halls near the rooms where she
helped nurse soldiers.
Anne Boleyn's ghost has been seen on numerous occasions at the Tower of London,
haunting the place of her death following her condemnation by her husband, King Henry
VIII. A number of people have also claimed to have seen Anne's ghost at Hever Castle,
Blickling Hall, Salle Church, and Marwell Hall.
Sir Isaac Brock, a British Army officer and colonial administrator best remembered for
his leadership during the early stages of the War of 1812, particularly for his role in
defending Upper Canada. Many have reported seeing his spirit wandering the site where
he was killed, as well as returning to sites commemorating his legacy.
John By's ghost, according to rumors, along with that of Duncan McNab, haunts the
Bytown Museum in Ottawa, formerly known as Bytownwhich. He reportedly once controlled a computer within the building, bringing up his name again and again on a
document.
Gen. George Custer defeated the attack by Gen. J.E.B. Stuart on day three of the Battle
of Gettysburg. Later, following Custer's Last Stand at the Battle of Little Big Horn,
Custer˙s ghost reportedly wanders the halls at the battlefield˙s museum.
Brita Gustafsdotter is said to appear as a ghost at Angso castle, where she walks
between the Royal Chamber and the big ballroom in the evenings. She has also been
seen walking between the parish church of Angso and the castle, carrying a lit candle.
John Reynolds was killed during the first day of battle at Gettysburg. Reynolds' spirit is
said to have never found peace. As such, his ghost wanders the streets near his family
home, looking to meet his fianc˙ just as he had promised he would more than 150 years
ago.
Frances St. John's melancholy ghost is said to haunt Bucklebury Manor in England, as
well as village of Bucklebury.
Mary Surratt was the first woman executed by the United States. Some say that she
was falsely accused of being part of the conspiracy to kill President Lincoln. Her ghost
supposedly haunts her former abodes in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Dorothy Townshend, who either died from smallpox or possibly died of a broken heart
after being separated from her children, which led to her becoming the famous ghost
The Brown Lady of Raynham.
Mary Wade, the only civilian casualty of the Battle of Gettysburg, is said to haunt her
former house on Baltimore Street.
