I really like Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds too. I didn't think Strange New Worlds dipped at all in season 3

One thing I'll say for SNW, it pushes the story-telling envelope sometimes. Like the episode where the crew became story-book characters, or the cross-over episode with STLD. But I think they went to far with the singing episode. That's been on other shows before, most noteably on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It worked there, given the nature of the series, but on a ST show? FAIC, no. I understand that in season four, there's going to be an episode where some of the characters are turned into puppets; again a-la BtVS. I'm very much hoping that that's wrong.

I like the storytelling on SNW as well. And I actually enjoyed the singing episode.. I feel like it doesn't hurt to have some sillyness in Star Trek like that (and they do a lot more sillyness on Lower Decks). But I can see why people wouldn't like that episode. I think one downside, though, is that they're only doing 10 episode per season, so that episode is 10% of the whole series. When they're only making 10 episodes per season, I think they should be careful about making an episode that a lot of people might not like. Back when TV shows often had 25-26 episodes per season, that wasn't as big of an issue (though I think there were often more episodes that people didn't care for too much or were a bit boring).

Yeah, I agree 100%. I also liked the whacky episodes but they occur too often. 1 per 10 episodes is more than enough. I'm looking forward to the puppet-episode in season 4. :)
